RUSKIN, Fla. (WWSB) – A convicted felon confessed to the crime, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies say.
Even wearing a Superman costume didn’t keep him out of handcuffs.
A Ruskin boat owner got an unwelcome surprise July 25 after discovering someone had broken into the cabin of their vessel, anchored right behind their home.
Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene and launched an investigation into the break-in.
Investigators say the suspect didn’t get far, and was identified as James Tidwell, 57, a convicted felon. Body camera video shows Tidwell apparently confessing to the burglary, in full superhero regalia.
Several power tools were reported stolen from the boat.
Tidwell was arrested and charged with burglary of an unoccupied conveyance and first-degree petit theft.
