Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for parts of Central Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. – A few thunderstorms are possible throughout the rest of Wednesday afternoon, but the most widespread and potentially severe thunderstorm risk comes late Wednesday night.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for Marion and Flagler counties until 10 p.m.

A cluster of thunderstorms is expected to develop around the I-10 corridor and sink south into Central Florida late Wednesday night into the morning hours of Thursday.

Latest model guidance has the strongest storms moving into Marion and Flagler closer to midnight or even the first few hours of Thursday morning.

Future radar

A few storms could be severe containing wind gusts in excess of 60 mph.

Storms could remain strong toward the I-4 during the morning hours Thursday.

Expect scattered rain and storms to linger into the morning commute across a large chunk of Central Florida Thursday.
