The Florida Health Care Association (FHCA) is in the midst of its long-term healthcare professional conference in Orlando where more than 1,000 top practitioners are networking through Thursday.
The FHCA’s Annual Conference & Trade Show is drawing medical experts to the Rosen Shingle Creek resort on Universal Boulevard in Central Florida. The event began Sunday and focuses on education, networking and recognition of leading professionals, with a featured “Spotlight on Excellence” segment.
FHCA CEO Emmett Reed said the event is showcasing innovation.
“FHCA members work every day to deliver exceptional care and create meaningful experiences for the residents and families they serve,” Reed said.
“This conference gives us an opportunity to celebrate their achievements, strengthen their skills and bring our profession together around the ideas, innovations and partnerships that will shape the future of long-term care. With more than 1,000 attendees gathered in Orlando, the energy and commitment to excellence are truly remarkable.”
In addition to workshops and educational panels, the FHCA is recognizing 70 Florida recipients of awards from the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living. Several scholarships were also awarded to nursing students, along with specific awards for rising long-term care leaders and administrators.
“Every education session, recognition ceremony and networking opportunity at our Annual Conference has been thoughtfully designed to help attendees return to their communities energized, better connected and equipped with practical strategies to support their residents, families and team members,” said FHCA Annual Conference Committee Chair Patricia Spears.

The event also featured a keynote address during a lunch Wednesday from three-time NCAA wrestling champion Anthony Robles, who was also inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. He spoke to the crowd and detailed his life story, which was the subject of a major motion picture. Robles helped present some of the awards during the conference.
The conference and trade show scheduled 60 educational events and featured 300 exhibitors displaying products and services during the week.
