Florida man accused of reckless driving with suspended license found with drugs

TAMPA, Fla. (CBS12) — A man stopped for reckless driving in Hillsborough County was charged with much more than just a speeding ticket.

On Tuesday, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies pulled over 36-year-old Richard Coto after observing him changing lanes without signaling. HCSO says Coto was driving with a suspended license and had previously been convicted twice for the same offense.

Bodycam footage posted to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page shows Coto explaining his reasoning for the reckless driving, claiming that he was late for work. Deputies then had Coto step out of the vehicle, and minutes later he was detained. They then explained to Coto that not only was he driving with a suspending license, but that he was not insured, and his car had a cease tag order.

Additionally, narcotics and drug paraphernalia were found in Coto’s vehicle. His charges include driving with license canceled, suspended, or revoked, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of cannabis.
