TPD seizes firearms, arrests four as part of ‘ongoing proactive efforts’

  • July 29, 2026

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Tallahassee Police have arrested four, including two teenagers, on charges related to drugs and firearm possession, according to a TPD press release.

Officers said the arrests took place in the West Tharpe Street area as the department takes “proactive enforcement efforts” due to recent shootings in that area.

Two of the four arrests were made following a traffic stop, according to TPD. The department said their Violent Crime Response Team saw four people “acting suspiciously as they entered a vehicle carrying backpacks.” The detectives reportedly then stopped the vehicle after observing a traffic violation.

One passenger was carrying an AR-style pistol and after a search of the vehicle, police uncovered additional firearms, including a short-barreled rifle and multiple handguns. Another handgun was stolen, per TPD. Two arrests were made following this investigation.
