A 17-year-old girl died after being shot Wednesday evening in Orange County, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies responded around 4:55 p.m. to a reported shooting in the 5500 block of Old Cheney Highway, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

The girl was located and taken to a hospital where she died, the statement reads.

All parties remained at the scene and there was no threat to the community, the sheriff’s office said.

“The investigation is still in its early stages, and we have no further information to release at this time. We will provide additional updates as they become available,” the statement reads.
