After receiving a 60-day deadline, one elevator is operational and meets state requirements, while the second one is still out of service.
JACKSONVILLE, Ark. — Jacksonville Towers, an independent senior living facility in Arkansas, is still struggling to get one of its elevators back up and running.
State inspectors said that one of the building’s elevators is now back in compliance, but the second elevator remains out of service.
Earlier this year, residents of Jacksonville Towers reached out to THV11 Investigates with concerns about accessibility issues for people who rely on wheelchairs and walkers.

After speaking to a resident who invited our reporter there, owners stated she was trespassing.
According to documents from state agencies, issues with the elevators began in February 2026.
The Arkansas Department of Labor and Licensing issued a notice to Jacksonville Towers in May that the complex had 60 days to fix the issues or face a daily fine of $500 to $1,000.
Now those 60 days have passed, state investigators said the violations tied to the elevators are still being addressed.
One operational elevator has been fully fixed and now meets state requirements.
However, the second elevator is still out of service. Officials said the facility has received two proposals to rebuild or replace that elevator, but no final agreement has been reached.
State investigators added that since one elevator is compliant, it won’t be subjected to fines and penalties.
