This is “Small Bites,” a South Florida Sun Sentinel feature with tiny tidbits on the food and beverage scene — because we know that sometimes you just don’t have room for a long article. You want a news brief instead, an amuse bouche of information, if you will. Enjoy!
WHAT: Never met a bivalve mollusc you didn’t like?
Aw shucks, then you’ve got to get to Pearl Jam by-the-Sea, coming ashore for the third time at Even Keel Fish Shack, just off the sands of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea.
The fresh-shucked foodie event will feature Prince Edward Island and Everglades oysters. There will also be Black River Caviar, jambalaya from Fort Lauderdale’s Shuck-N-Dive Cajun Cafe, craft cocktails from Bootleg Greg, and vino from Zonin Prosecco and Hampton Water Wine.
Yes, the oysters and the bubbly are unlimited. (Un Limi Ted are our three favorite words.)
And, of course, you can’t call it a Pearl Jam without some jamming music, can you? So, SoFlo musician Catfish Hunter will perform Pearl Jam covers.
Even Keel is producing the event along with the Visit Lauderdale Food & Wine Festival and Mike Mayo’s Lunch Box podcast (a former Sun Sentinel staffer, so you know he’s gifted).
WHEN: 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22
WHERE: Even Keel Fish Shack, 112 Commercial Blvd., Lauderdale-by-the-Sea
COST: $91.45 for general admission; $152.53 for VIP (noon admission, reserved seating, special chef selection)
