PORT ST. LUCIE – A man who apparently had too much to drink crashed his SUV into the front of a Port St. Lucie liquor store on July 24 and then fled the scene, according to a Port St. Lucie Police Facebook posting.
Jimy Alexander Alvarenga Ramirez, 32, who was found several blocks from the scene, is in the St. Lucie County Jail on charges of DUI with property damage; leaving the scene of a crash; resisting an officer without violence; and driving without a valid license.
On the evening of July 24, Alvarenga Ramirez ran his SUV into the front of 3rd Base Discount Beverage in the 2800 block of Southwest Port St. Lucie Boulevard, Port St. Lucie and then fled the scene on foot, according to the Facebook posting.
Witnesses gave officers a description of the driver and with that and viewing surveillance video, officers located the suspect several blocks away, attempting to hide, according to the Facebook posting.
Alvarenga Ramirez was taken into custody and transported to the St. Lucie County Jail where he is being held on a $9,500 bond as of July 29, according to the jail web site.
No injuries were reported.
