After a six-year wait for a new solo album, Phoebe Bridgers is making her return to record store shelves, and St. Petersburg fans will have a chance to hear Lost Weekend before the rest of the world.
Daddy Kool Records hosts a Phoebe Bridgers listening party for her new album on Thursday, Aug 13, at 11 p.m., giving fans an early listen to the singer songwriter’s third album before it goes on sale at midnight.
The record marks Bridgers’ first full-length solo release since 2020’s critically acclaimed Punisher, an album that earned her multiple Grammy nominations and cemented her place as one of indie music’s biggest names. Since then, she has continued working on her music. through her work with Boygenius (stylized all-lowercase), a Grammy-winning group with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus.
The rollout for Lost Weekend has leaned into mystery. Earlier this summer, flyers began appearing in local coffee shops across the country announcing same-day surprise pop-up shows in small venues giving fans an opportunity to see her live performing new unreleased music. The shows eventually culminated with a sold-out surprise concert at Madison Square Garden, where all proceeds benefitted organizations supporting immigrants in detention centers.
Last Tuesday, Bridgers dropped the Lost Weekend tracklist in a cryptic Instagram post, revealing her most expansive album to date with 16 songs and a runtime of just under an hour. The record also features new collaborators, including producer Jack Antonoff, known for work with huge pop artists like Taylor Swift and Lana Del Ray.
For listeners who have spent years waiting for new music, Daddy Kool’s midnight event offers a rare opportunity for fans to experience the album together on release night.
Bridgers, 31, made her warm Tampa debut in 2017 for Gasparilla Music Festival. She returned in 2022 for an even hotter sold-out show in the Cuban Club parking lot. Bridgers’ 2026 world tour skips Florida altogether, coming only as close as Georgia.
Attendees can hear the record early, pick up free swag while supplies last, and shop the album at midnight. Fans who pre-ordered Lost Weekend through Daddy Kool can bypass the purchase line for quicker pickup.
Collectors will also have the opportunity to purchase a limited “Zodiacal Light” vinyl variant, though quantities are extremely limited and availability is not guaranteed.
