Tampa will provide free Community Emergency Response Team training between Aug. 14 and Aug. 16. This three-day course teaches residents how to safeguard themselves and their neighbors when disasters strike.
According to Tampa.gov, participants learn practical skills that complement what first responders do. The training includes fire suppression, light search and rescue operations, and basic medical care. Instructors also teach about disaster psychology and how people react under stress.
Classes meet at Fair Oaks Complex Community Center. The first session runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Aug. 14. Days two and three go from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
You must attend every session. Spots are limited, so sign up early.
The Mayor’s Neighborhood University Saturday Session hosts this event. There is no cost to attend.
