PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — It’s a chance to relax and get in touch with your creative side.
We’re talking about wood sign-making at Board & Brush Safety Harbor.
It’s where visitors can book a workshop and create their own masterpiece via wood working.
Owner Randi Horton said patrons do not have to be an expert or have any artistic experience.
“You do not need to have craft or artistic skills to do this,” Horton said. “You don’t need to know how to draw. You don’t need to know how to paint. It’s all very structured and very dummy proof.”
The process is cut, pound, sand, stain, stencil and paint. And there are a myriad of sign choices, from trays to clocks to crates.
Board & Brush offers a wide variety of hands-on, private experiences, from workshops, private parties, bridal showers, bachelorette gatherings, children’s birthday bashes, corporate events, and fundraisers.
Horton, who used to be in finance, said cutting out all the vinyl stencils is fun.
“Halloween is huge. There are people that go crazy for Halloween,” she said. “We have a lot of signs and then of course, Christmas.”
The shop’s three-hour classes offer more than a creative outlet.
“It’s really gratifying to see people come in and have fun,” said Horton. “And at the end of the night they look at what they have and they are like, ‘I can’t believe I made that!”
Board & Brush Safety Harbor is located off McMullen Booth Road in Clearwater.
