HYDE COUNTY, N.C. — A man wanted on felony charges in Hyde County and several other jurisdictions has been taken into custody, according to the Hyde County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said Driston Cole Deese was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Service at the request of the sheriff’s office.
Deese was wanted on outstanding charges in Florida and South Carolina. He was also wanted in Harnett, Cumberland, Beaufort and Hyde counties in North Carolina.

In Hyde County, Deese faces the following charges:
First-degree kidnappingPossession of a firearm by a convicted felonAssault with a deadly weapon with intent to killAssault by pointing a gun
The Hyde County Sheriff’s Office thanked the U.S. Marshals Service and the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office for helping locate and arrest Deese.
Officials said the arrest highlights the importance of cooperation between law enforcement agencies when pursuing people accused of violent crimes.
The sheriff’s office said it remains committed to protecting Hyde County residents and holding those who threaten public safety accountable.
