STUART – A driver fleeing a Stuart Police officer ultimately was stopped on July 28 with the help of Martin County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Highway Patrol, according to a Stuart Police Facebook posting.
David Allen Kingsley Jr., 31, was stopped by a Stuart Police officer on an equipment violation the evening of July 28. After the officer discovered that Kingsley’s driver’s license was revoked, Kingsley then took off, according to the Facebook posting.
Kingsley led officers on a brief pursuit within the City of Stuart, striking another vehicle before continuing out of the city, according to the Facebook posting. Kingsley then continued driving recklessly into Martin County jurisdiction, where deputies with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office and troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol assisted in the pursuit, according to the Facebook posting.
The vehicle was ultimately stopped, and Kingsley surrendered without further incident, according to the Facebook posting.
Kingsley was charged with two counts of fleeing & eluding law enforcement; one count each of leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage; failure to obey an officer’s order to stop; reckless driving; and driving while license suspended or revoked.
He was in the Martin County Jail as of July 30 on a $40,000 bond on those charges.
