Rebuild after explosion: When we could see a Blue Origin launch from Florida’s Space Coast
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. —
It’s been a little over two months since Blue Origin’s New Glenn rocket exploded during a static fire test – but the rebuild is ahead of schedule.
“I think that they are moving ahead really quickly. I mean they essentially did the complete recovery of all the debris and evidence in about three weeks,” said Dr. Don Platt, director of Florida Tech’s spaceport education program.
The company has hired hundreds of contractors to help with reconstruction of the pad.
Blue Origin is also partnering with NASA to test the New Glenn’s upper stage in Mississippi, to hopefully return to flight as soon as it can.
