Gov. DeSantis taps Michael Crabb to fill vacant Orange County commissioner seat
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. —
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has tapped Michael Crabb to fill the vacant District 2 seat on the Orange County Board of County Commissioners.
Crabb — whom the governor’s office introduced as a lieutenant for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the owner of The Shirt Shop USA — was already running for the District 2 seat after Christine Moore stepped down to run for mayor of Apopka.
That mayoral race would go to Nick Nesta, who got 61.94% of the vote in an April runoff election.
The governor’s office further described Crabb as “active in his community,” the vice president and a board member of the Florida Safety Council and a member of the Florida Deputy Sheriff’s Association who attended Barry University.
It was one of several similar appointments announced Friday by the governor’s office, with the others including the appointment of Walter “Buddy” Money to the Liberty County Board of County Commissioners and that of John Mitten to the Hernando County Board of County Commissioners.
The District 2 Orange County commissioner’s seat is still up for grabs, however, in the upcoming election.
