SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) -A pedestrian was killed and another was seriously injured after they were hit by an SUV late Friday night in Hillsborough County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened around 10:50 p.m. on State Road 574, west of North 68th Street.
A 72-year-old Largo man was driving a Chevrolet Equinox west on SR-574 when two pedestrians tried to cross the highway, FHP said.
Both pedestrians entered the SUV’s path and were hit.
A 42-year-old Leesburg man died at the scene. A 54-year-old Miami man suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital.
