Frontier Airlines has announced 20 new routes—including six out of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport —in an effort to win over customers searching for low fares.
The routes to major cities will all begin this winter, between Nov. 20-22.
They include service to the following airports to and from FLL:
Baltimore (BWI)
Dallas (DFW)
Detroit (DTW)
Chicago (ORD)
Houston (IAH)
Charlotte (CLT)
The routes will be offered three times a week, except for service to Houston, which will be offered weekly.
Tickets start as low as $29.
According to CNBC, Frontier Airlines is going after customers of Spirit Airlines, whose financial footing has gotten so shaky in recent weeks that it warned earlier this month it might not be able to survive another year without more cash.
Frontier overlaps with Spirit on 35% of its capacity, more than any other airline, according to a Monday note from Deutsche Bank airline analyst Michael Linenberg.
Frontier also introduced other domestic and international routes, including to San Salvador, El Salvador; Cancun, Mexico; and Guatemala City, Guatemala. Find a full list here.
