Tasers, ambulances, more: Check out Orange County’s surplus auction
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. —
The latest Orange County surplus auction is live, offering potential bargains on an arrangement of spare hardware that truly defines the term “miscellaneous.”
This auction began Wednesday morning and runs through 1 p.m. the following Wednesday, Aug. 5.
Taking a quick look at the auction website, it appears dominated by vehicles, but there’s plenty else to browse through and basically everything is listed in “as is, where is” condition.
Some fun examples at the time of this writing include cardboard boxes filled with disarmed stun guns, a what-would-be stunning $2,162 deal on a big dump truck, $76 for a pallet of fire hoses, your very own ambulance, enough equipment to start your own gym, a selection of utility and golf carts with forklifts to carry them home, IT equipment for a garage data center, and an opening price of $5 for six lifeguard chairs.
Should you bid on an item and win it, you’re expected to pay for it within five business days and to remove it from the premises within 10 business days, according to the website.
A 6.5% sales tax will be collected, with tax-exempt companies reminded to contact the Orange County Comptroller prior to payment to have that removed. There’s also said to be a buyer’s premium of 11.5% — visible during the bidding process — that will be added to the final sale price.
