Universal’s newest Orlando theme park, Epic Universe, opened just over a year ago, and with the popularity of lands and attractions within the park, the crowds have yet to die down.

And since the park only has 11 rides throughout the five themed lands, there can be long posted waits with the consistent crowd level, but are they accurate? I put the Epic Universe wait times to the test and here’s what I found out!
One of the easiest ways to please guests at theme parks is by having their wait time be shorter than posted. Not only will this give them more time to do other things, but it also makes guests happy! And we think theme parks do this on purpose, especially Epic Universe!

I put that theory to the test on one of my recent trips, and boy was I right! So much so that one posted wait was 50 minutes longer than I actually waited (I was psyched, to say the least).

On this trip, I experienced 12 different rides, attractions, and meet-and-greets, and over half of them had shorter waits than posted. Let’s get into which attractions were shorter than posted, accurate, and longer than posted.

Longer Than Posted Wait Times
There is only one attraction in Epic Universe that tends to have a longer wait time on average, and this is Mine-Cart Madness. Because of its popularity, it can be hard to tell what the actual wait may be, especially with how often it goes down. The average posted wait for this attraction in the past month has been 113 minutes.

Accurate Posted Wait Times
Four attractions tend to have accurate wait times in Epic Universe — Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, Dragon Racer’s Rally, Fyre Drill, and Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge. In the past month, these attractions have had average posted wait times of 91 minutes, 31 minutes, 34 minutes, and 75 minutes, respectively.

Shorter Than Posted Wait Times
We’ve finally reached the part everyone’s been waiting for — the attractions that have shorter than posted wait times! SEVEN attractions tend to have shorter wait times than posted. Starting in Celestial Park, both Constellation Carousel and Stardust Racers tend to have shorter waits than posted. Their average posted waits in the past month have been 17 minutes and 27 minutes, respectively.

Hopping over to Super Nintendo World, Yoshi’s Adventure frequently has a longer posted wait than actual wait. This attraction has had an average wait time of 35 minutes in the past month.

Both attractions in Dark Universe — Curse of the Werewolf and Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment — also have a lower actual wait than posted. Curse of the Werewolf has had an average posted wait of 44 minutes in the past month while Monsters Unchained has only had a 16-minute posted wait.

Finally, we have Hiccup’s Wing Gliders in Isle of Berk, which has had an average posted wait of 42 minutes in the past month. And although it’s not technically an attraction, meeting Toothless in Isle of Berk actually has a posted wait time, and it often tends to be shorter than posted. When I hopped in his line, the wait time was posted at 75 minutes, but it actually only took me 25 minutes to say hi to him and Viking Magnus!

Of course, the only way to guarantee a shorter wait time than posted is by purchasing Universal’s skip-the-line option, which is Express Pass. But a lot of the time, the actual wait time tends to be shorter than the posted time! We’re always testing out the latest tricks at the theme parks, so stay tuned to AllEars for more!
