TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Buy your stock in big bend little league baseball now. The Chaires Capitola 12u team is headed to the southeast regional tournament for the first time in its history and the Tallahassee Babe Ruth 14U team is headed to its World Series hoping to go back to back.
Chaires Capitola hasn’t lost a game yet in 2026, as it plowed through the Florida state tournament, defeating three-time champion Lake Mary’s to advance.
The players say its team chemisty that’s led to their successs. They’ve known each other for years and had success on the diamond having won it all last summer as the 11U team.
But what they’ve accomplished so far this year,and have a chance to accomplish, is not lost on them.
“Super proud of the boys, how they’ve persevered and played throughout this all-star tournament season and district sectionals,” said head coach Aleck Del Prado. “But then states last weekend, they played phenomenal baseball, defense, pitching, hitting. They put it all together and it was fun to watch. We hope that continues as we go to regionals.”
“I think we have the team. I think we have the talent,” said catcher and outfielder Jacob Ross. “If we just play like we played in states, then I think we can do it. ”
The team hits the road for regionals in Warner Robbins, GA on Tuesday.
Across town, the Tallahassee 14U Babe Ruth all-stars are prepping for their World Series, and they’re in a good position to win it all.
The team has been dominant this summer with a record of 2-0. They’ve outscored teams 8-0.
Head coach Bruce Williams said his focus right now is in the hitting department, but signaled their pitching is solid.
Williams said he’s excited to get to the World Series because it’s when his team plays its best. The majority of this team is defending their World Series title from last summer for the 13U team.
“Just excited for these guys the opportunity to go back-to-back. That’s something they’ll cherish, I think,” said Williams. “They’ve played well on the big stage in front of a lot of people. It’s exciting to know that they’ve been challenged and they have a little bit of experience going into the World Series. There’s nine international teams there, so that’ll be something different for the guys. I feel like that’ll be exciting as well.”
