PINELLAS PARK Fla. – Pinellas Park police took a person into custody Sunday morning after a person was shot aboard a PSTA bus.

What we know:

Officers responded to US Highway 19 N and 49th Street N around 11:45 a.m. Sunday after receiving reports of a gunshot victim on a Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority bus.

The shooter ran from the bus, but officers found the person nearby at Freedom Lake Park.

The suspect was arrested without further incident a short time later. 

First responders transported the victim to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries. 

There is no current threat to the public.

What we don’t know:

Authorities have not released the names or ages of the shooter or the victim.

Police have also not shared details regarding what led up to the gunfire.

“The investigation is ongoing, and we do not have comment at this time,” said Amanda Baird, director of communications and marketing for the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority.
