Strong storms, heavy rain expected across Central Florida today

Cam TranORLANDO, Fla. —

Central Florida is facing hot and muggy conditions today, with rounds of rain expected across the region.

A few showers are currently affecting northern areas, including Marion County, where the western portion is under a flood watch through tonight.

The bulk of the rain is anticipated later this afternoon and early evening, with some storms potentially becoming strong or isolated severe.

This weather pattern is expected to repeat tomorrow, with an even wetter trend forecasted later in the week as a big plume of moisture moves into the area.
