The City of Ft. Lauderdale honoring Diana Nyad with a state historical marker unveiling at the Las Olas Oceanside Park. Organizer Lynette Long says Nyad deserves the tribute as the first woman to swim one-hundred-ten miles from Havana to Key West without a shark cage in 2013. Nyad accomplished the feat on her fifth try at age 64. She hopes the swim and thirty-five-year pursuit of her dream sends the message to anyone listening to never give up.
