FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — Developers behind the long-delayed King’s Landing project in Fort Pierce are seeking an additional 180 days to secure a $15 million private investment commitment.

The mixed-use development is planned for the former H.D. King Power Plant site and includes a hotel, condominiums, shops, restaurants and public waterfront space.

During a recent meeting, some Fort Pierce commissioners expressed skepticism about granting more time after years of delays.

Despite those concerns, a majority of commissioners supported holding a special public update meeting in September.

Developers said they plan to use the additional 180 days to demonstrate that financing for the project is in place.
