The Orlando Dreamers, the group trying to land a MLB expansion team, will “present updated renderings of a proposed multi-purpose baseball stadium complex” to a county task force on Wednesday, according to J.C. Carnahan of the ORLANDO BUSINESS JOURNAL. The Dreamers will ask the Orange County Tourist Development Tax Citizen Advisory Task Force to recommend approval of $975M in funds to “partially finance the construction” of a more than $2B facility. The renderings, designed by Populous, show the site as a “mixed-use destination featuring a 45,000-seat domed stadium with three hotel towers of approximately 1,000 rooms.” It would include “Class-A office space, a museum attraction, a multipurpose special events center and space for restaurants, retail and hospitality tenants.” Dreamers CMO Andrew Herdliska in an email said that the group is “prepared to make the largest private investment in a publicly-owned stadium in MLB history.” The Dreamers previously stated that the group has more than $1B under a non-binding letter of intent for ballpark financing from unnamed “highly qualified institutional sources” and more than $1B for team acquisition costs (ORLANDO BUSINESS JOURNAL, 8/3).
