A man was taken to the hospital after he was electrocuted in Opa-locka on Tuesday, police said.

According to Opa-locka Police, officers arrived at the 1300 block of Sharar Avenue after receiving a call of someone who was in distress.

At the scene, officers found a man in the backyard who had been doing yard work when he accidentally struck a live electrical wire and was shocked.

Police said they performed life-saving first aid on the man until fire rescue crews arrived, and airlifted him to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

An investigation into the incident remains active.
