TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A judge has halted the sale of FSU’s Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity house.
Circuit Judge Lee Marsh granted a request by the home’s owner to vacate the foreclosure sale and stop the transfer of the fraternity house title to FSU.
FSU’s Board of Trustees placed the winning $5 million bid to purchase the College Avenue property during a foreclosure auction last Friday, but court records show the property owner filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy just four minutes before the auction started.

Court records show the SAE fraternity house is owned by 415 West College Avenue LLC, which is owned by businessman Dan Gilbertson.
WCTV has reached out to Gilbertson, his attorney, and to Florida State University for comment.
“All further foreclosure-related proceedings are stayed pending resolution of Defendant’s bankruptcy case or further order of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Florida,” the judge’s order said.
