Florida truck driver charged with OUI after crashing into MSP cruiser outside Sturbridge barracks
STURBRIDGE, Mass. —
A tractor-trailer driver is facing charges after allegedly slamming into the front of a parked Massachusetts State Police cruiser while drunk on Monday night.
Timothy Dorsey, 50, of Pensacola, Florida, was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, leaving the scene of property damage, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
Dorsey was arraigned in Dudley District Court on Tuesday.
According to State police, Dorsey struck a parked, unoccupied cruiser outside the Sturbridge barracks, pushing the vehicle onto a curb and into a light pole.
The tractor-trailer then continued over nearby shrubbery before circling behind the barracks. Police said Dorsey tried leaving the scene before he was stopped by troopers moments later.
There were no reports of any injuries.
“Operating under the influence endangers everyone on our roadways,” State police wrote in a news release. “If you choose to drink, make a plan for a sober ride. One poor decision can have serious consequences.”
