Miami University celebrates upcoming release of ‘Cradle of Coaches’ documentary

Matthew DietzOXFORD, Ohio —

A celebration of coaches who have made a major impact on Miami University and beyond is set to be released this month.

Cradle of Coaches will be available to stream on Peacock, starting on Aug. 17.

The documentary will go into the history of how football coaches built one of America’s most popular sports today, including many with ties to Miami University.

The documentary will feature some of the most well-known figures in football history, including former Miami quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, Bengals owner Mike Brown, Lou Holtz, Ken Anderson, Pat Narduzzi and Rocky Bleier.

The documentary will also feature interviews with current NFL head coaches, including John Harbaugh of the New York Giants and Sean McVay of the Los Angeles Rams.

On Tuesday, a packed crowd gathered at Paycor Stadium to celebrate the upcoming release of the documentary.

Former Ohio State coach and current Ohio Lt. Gov. Jim Tressel was among the panelists who spoke about it, as well as former NFL defensive back Solomon Wilcots.

“The timing for this documentary couldn’t be more perfect. We have successfully captured rare, first-hand interviews with the individuals who lived it — those who played for, coached with, and worked alongside the greatest legends in collegiate and NFL history, spanning over a century,” said David Sayler, director of Athletics at Miami University, in a release.
