MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. —
A South Florida community is mourning the death of a police officer.
The city of Doral announced on Wednesday, Aug. 5, that one of its police officers died.

“With a heavy heart, I join our community in mourning the profound loss we share today alongside the family, friends, and fellow officers of one our own from the Doral Police Department,” Doral Mayor Christi Fraga said in a statement posted on social media.
“Today, we say goodbye not only to an exceptional public servant, but to a man who wore his badge with integrity, humility, and unwavering sense of duty. His kindness, his dedication to serving others, and his steadfast commitment to the safety of our community will forever remain in our hearts.”
The name of the officer was not made public.

According to ABC affiliate WSVN-TV in Miami citing a source, a Doral Police officer apparently took his own life in Southwest Miami-Dade County.

WSVN reported that on Wednesday at 6:20 a.m., Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the area of Southwest 157th Avenue and 160th Street and found a man unresponsive.
