  • August 5, 2026

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – School in Leon County starts one week from Wednesday and so do the speed cameras in school zones.

The cameras are at nearly 30 schools across Tallahassee.

Cameras will be active during school hours, plus 30 minutes before and after school. TPD says, during the school year, the cameras are operating even when the lights aren’t flashing.

More Tallahassee news:

Drivers caught going more than 10 miles an hour over the speed limit will get a $100 citation in the mail.

This is the second school year with the cameras in Tallahassee.

But, unlike last year, the Tallahassee Police Department said there will be no grace period.

Full enforcement and fines start on August 12.

TPD said last school year, the cameras led to more than 44,000 tickets.
