August 5, 2026 – Veytia Ventures LLC, which owns several Mexican restaurants in St. Petersburg, announced on social media Wednesday that Red Mesa Cantina West, at 6001 Central Ave., will close Sunday, Aug. 16. “We gave it everything we had,” the owners wrote, “but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough.” Red Mesa Cantina West opened in October, 2025. The company filed for bankruptcy protection in June, and closed the long-lived Red Mesa Cantina at 128 3rd Street S.
