On Thursday, July 30, Sporting Jax announced that The Corner at Debs Store was their Gainbridge Super League Savings Tracker recipient for the 2025-26 season. In addition, the club made a $9,900 donation to The Corner at Debs Store.
The Gainbridge Savings Tracker was born during the 2025-26 season when the Gainbridge Super League and U.S. Women’s National Team legend Briana Scurry got together and decided to make a $99 donation for every save that a goalkeeper made in a match. During the previous season, 715 saves were recorded and after a generous roundup from Gainbridge there was more than $99,000 raised. The funds were then distributed to each team’s nonprofit organization of choice.
The Corner at Debs Store served Jacksonville’s Historic Eastside for more than 90 years before it closed in 2011. Deb’s Store reopened in 2024, and it is the neighborhood’s only affordable and healthy grocery store. The store is operated directly by Goodwill Industries of North Florida, and it features a second-floor Goodwill GoodCareers Center and a VyStar Credit Union microbranch.
“For Gainbridge to team up with Briana Scurry and to come to Jacksonville and Debs to make a near-$10,000 donation from all the saves this year, it’s incredible,” said Bret Lasky, senior director of sponsorship marketing and content for Group 1001.
The donation by Sporting Jax will help Deb’s Store to continue providing affordable options to the community and help every member in the area receive health education.
“The generous investment from the Sporting Jax women’s team allows Goodwill to strengthen The Corner at Debs Store into a vital community anchor, delivering consistent access to fresh, affordable groceries alongside essential career and financial wellness services,” said David Rey, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of North Florida.
The Sporting Jax women’s team will kick off their second season in the Gainbridge Super League on the road against Fort Lauderdale United. Their first home match of the season will be on Aug. 22 against Tampa Bay Sun FC.
