Alleged drunk driver crashes into guardrail on I-95, abandons vehicle in center lane

MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — An alleged drunk driver crashed his car on I-95 and left his wrecked vehicle in the center lane on Wednesday, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office says deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash on I-95 near Martin Highway after an intoxicated driver crashed into a guardrail. Upon arrival, deputies found that he had left the vehicle in the middle of the highway, perpendicular to the roadway.

Deputies quickly located Galindo Juarez-Perez, who surrendered to law enforcement near the SR-714 overpass.

The sheriff’s office says Juarez-Perez was charged with a DUI, leaving the scene of a crash involving damage, possession of heroin, driving without a valid driver’s license and resisting arrest.

Juarez-Perez, who said he was from Guatemala, was taken to the Martin County Jail.

The arrest comes after the Martin County Sheriff’s Office arrested three suspected drunk drivers Monday night, including one whose vehicle went airborne before crashing onto railroad tracks.
