TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Florida State Seminoles packed their bags at the Dunlap Training Center on Wednesday afternoon. The ‘Noles preparing to head east for two days of practice on the campus of the University of North Florida. The excursion east has become an annual tradition for Mike Norvell’s program during fall camp.
The seventh year head coach has long said he wants to treat the excursion to Duval County like a road game, hoping his team learns how to do its best and perform in unfamiliar and uncomfortable environments.
“We’re just playing multiple away games in these next couple practices,” said defensive coordinator Tony White of embracing the mindset of the trip. “I don’t know how many copiers we’ve got out there, I don’t know what the setup is, the field’s 90 yards instead of 100 but you know what? We’ve got to go out there and perform. That’s the message from [Coach Norvell]. It’s going to resonate down and we’re going to treat it as such.”
FSU will practice in Jacksonville on Thursday and Friday before returning to Tallahassee and holding its second scrimmage of fall camp on Sunday night.
