A serious crash shut down northbound lanes of Interstate 95 at Sheridan Street in Hollywood early Thursday as rush-hour traffic was getting started.
“Everything is shut down in that area,” Austin Carter, a traffic reporter with Miami Herald news partner CBS News Miami, said around 6:40 a.m. “Nobody is moving. It’s a parking lot.”
The crash happened around 6:20 a.m. Thursday near the exit ramp to Hollywood Boulevard, according to the Florida Department if Transportation.
Police moved the vehicles to the highway shoulder before 7 a.m., but traffic was still stop and go. By 8 a.m., heavy traffic was moving again.
Another crash on I-95 near Ives Dairy Road in Northeast Miami-Dade also is making for a miserable commute during the morning rush hour.
To avoid the Sheridan gridlock, exit at Hallandale Beach Boulevard and take U.S. 1, State Road 7, Florida’s Turnpike or University Drive.
