Police reported a residential fire the afternoon of Aug. 5 in the southeast portion of the city, and no injuries were reported.
Port St. Lucie Police reported being called at 2:25 p.m. to the fire in the 2300 block of Southeast Melaleuca Boulevard, according to Officer Brandon Martinez, police spokesperson.
According to the St. Lucie County Fire District, crews “found heavy black smoke coming from a detached structure and three vehicles located in the rear of the residence.” Firefighters were able to prevent the home from catching on fire.
Martinez stated it appears the fire started in the backyard patio area and involved car repairs.
Martinez said smoke entered the residence.
