Three arrested in Tallahassee smoke shop smash-and-grab burglary spree, police say

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A nearly month-long string of smash-and-grab burglaries targeting Tallahassee smoke shops has ended with three arrests, according to the Tallahassee Police Department.

Detectives began investigating July 8 after a series of seven smash-and-grab burglaries across Tallahassee. The most recent burglary happened Aug. 2. In each case, police said, suspects used a large object to shatter a business’s front glass door, then immediately targeted the cash register and fled in less than three minutes. Detectives later determined all seven incidents were connected.

As the investigation continued, detectives collected evidence, identified a primary suspect and determined the vehicle believed to have been used during the burglary spree. Police said that during several of the burglaries, the suspect was armed with a firearm while unlawfully entering the businesses.

Police said the investigation led detectives to identify and locate the people responsible. A firearm believed to have been used during several of the offenses was recovered, and all three suspects were taken into custody without incident.

Those arrested were:

Kymani Geter, 16, charged with unarmed burglary of an unoccupied structure, armed burglary of an unoccupied structure, attempted armed burglary of an unoccupied structure, criminal mischief, and seven counts of petit theft.

Zyah Geter, 21, charged with attempted unarmed burglary of an occupied structure, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and petit theft.

Antwaniya Winchester, 19, charged with attempted unarmed burglary of an occupied structure, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and petit theft.
