Miami-Dade, FL – Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton is receiving medical care after authorities responded to his South Florida home following reports of a mental health crisis that occurred during a livestream.

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched after concerned viewers contacted emergency services, reporting that Hilton appeared to harm himself while broadcasting live on social media.

Authorities identified him as Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., who is professionally known as Perez Hilton.

When deputies arrived, they used crisis intervention techniques while communicating with Hilton and worked to safely take him into protective custody.

Officials said he was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Law enforcement described the incident as a mental health response and not a criminal investigation.

Authorities said Hilton was the only person inside the home when deputies arrived.

Reports also indicated that his three children were not at the residence during the incident.

Representatives for Hilton later confirmed that he is receiving treatment and asked the public to respect his privacy as he focuses on his recovery.
