TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A Tallahassee man has been sentenced in connection to several “child pornography” charges stemming from a 2024 investigation by Rapid City Police, according to the Northern District of Florida U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Justin Luis Ruiz, 21, was sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of production of child pornography, one count of receipt of child pornography, one count of possession of child pornography and two counts of distribution of child pornography, the attorney’s office wrote in a press release Friday.

The 21-year-old’s sentencing comes in connection to a 2024 investigation conducted by the Rapid City (South Dakota) Police Department, the attorney’s office said.
The investigation revealed that Ruiz had solicited a minor to send him nude photographs depicting child sex abuse material, the press release revealed.
Further investigation included a search of a Tallahassee home by authorities and ultimately led to Ruiz being identified as the suspect.
Authorities determined that the Tallahassee man had communicated online with “known and unknown persons, many of them minors, and exchanged child pornography with those individuals,” according to the attorney’s office.
Once Ruiz is released from prison, he will be on supervised release for the rest of his life, the statement said.
