Teens arrested after security guard shot at during Doral car burglary, cops say – NBC 6 South Florida

Two South Florida teens are facing charges in a pair of vehicle burglaries including one in which a security guard was shot at and nearly killed, police said.

According to arrest reports, Doral Police responded to Atlantic Doral at 10500 Northwest 74th Street around 1:15 a.m. Thursday for a reported shooting.

The officers spoke with a security guard who said he was on routine patrol in a golf cart in the parking lot when he spotted two men breaking into his car.

He said he confronted the suspects, later identified as 18-year-old Daniel Dominguez and 19-year-old Lucas Gomez-Quintero, before Dominguez pulled out a gun, pointed it at him and threatened to kill him, the reports said.

The guard said the suspects got in a car and started to leave as he was on the phone and trying to photograph them, but they stopped alongside him and he heard Gomez-Quintero say in Spanish “mtalo,” which translates to “kill him,” the reports said.

He said Dominguez then shot four times in his direction, as he took cover behind the golf cart, the report said.

The suspects fled but the guard was able to get a photo of their license plate.

When officers responded they found bullet fragments and apparent bullet holes on the golf cart and a nearby garage door.

The guard said the suspects stole a pair of Airpods, a Samsung camera and a hair shaver, the report said.

Investigators tracked down the car used in the crime, which is registered to Dominguez’s father, and found a spent bullet casing on top of a front windshield wiper, the reports said.

The guard later identified Dominguez in a photo lineup, the reports said.

Later Thursday morning, Hialeah Gardens Police responded to a vehicle burglary in progress involving a suspect whose clothing description matched Dominguez’s, and Dominguez and Gomez-Quintero were taken into custody, the reports said.

At the time, they were using a car registered to Gomez-Quintero’s mother, the reports said.

Dominguez was searched and had a loaded Glock 9mm pistol in his waistband, the reports said.

Police said while Dominguez was in custody, he told officers he was going to find them and kill them, and he headbutted one officer in the chest.

Both teens were booked into jail on armed burglary charges, while Dominguez was also charged with attempted murder in the shooting, records showed.
