HamiKuma, the Halloween Horror Nights mascot from Universal Studios Japan, will finally come to the Florida version of the event.
HamiKuma Meet and Greet
The zombified bear made his U.S. debut last year. Though he was originally supposed to appear at both Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort, he ultimately only had a meet and greet at Hollywood while Orlando still got his merchandise. He also appeared at Universal Horror Unleashed.
HamiKuma will debut a meet and greet experience during HHN inside Five & Dime at Universal Studios Florida.
HamiKuma will also return to Universal Studios Hollywood for a meet and greet at select times.
According to his backstory, HamiKuma was a side show act in a traveling circus, but his fellow performers became jealous of his popularity. They also believed the rumor that he wasn’t a real bear, so they slashed open his belly to expose who or what might be inside. To cover their tracks, they burned down the big top, killing HamiKuma.
In the afterlife, the parasitic demon Death Bringer worked his way into HamiKuma’s belly, and they returned to the surface. Though HamiKuma gained eternal life, his soul was left behind.
Iterations of HamiKuma include HamiKuma Soul, the personification of his soul trapped in the afterlife; HamiKuma Punk, representing the bear’s anger and resentment; and HamiKuma Candy, the manifestation of HamiKuma’s greed.
