Police searching for vehicle involved in fatal St. Pete hit-and-run

The victim was walking in a crosswalk when she was hit.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — St. Pete police are searching for the suspect vehicle in a fatal hit-and-run Saturday.

It happened around 2 a.m. near the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street South and 15th Avenue South.

The victim, later identified as a 47-year-old woman, was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk when a vehicle entered the intersection and struck her.

The suspect vehicle, which police describe as a dark colored sedan, then reportedly fled the scene without stopping.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and later pronounced dead.
