TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Early voting for Florida’s primary election began Saturday morning, with most counties, including several in the Big Bend, opening polling locations to voters.
In Leon County, voters cast ballots at 10 early voting sites across the county.
Among them was Shane Stewart, who voted with his wife after they noticed a polling location while driving by. Stewart said they decided to stop and vote rather than put it off.
“We saw it when we rode by, and quite frankly I’d forget if I didn’t, so we went ahead and knocked it out,” Stewart said. “I’ve always said if you don’t vote, you can’t complain, so it’s your civic duty.”
Early voting will continue through Aug. 15 or Aug. 16, depending on the county.
Voters who are unable to cast their ballots during early voting can vote on Election Day, Aug. 18.
