Firefighters rescue man stuck 40 feet in air in Stuart
He was trimming a tree when the lift broke
MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. —
Martin County Fire Rescue on Saturday afternoon freed a man stuck 40 feet in the air while trimming a tree.
Around 1 p.m., units were dispatched to the 8400 block of Southwest 17th Avenue in Stuart, spokeswoman Jillian Kay posted on Facebook. The property was west of Florida’s Turnpike.

Rescuers found a man trapped in the air on a broken lift.
He had been trimming trees when he realized the lift would no longer move up and down, leaving him stuck.
“Due to limited ladder access, crews quickly took a rare and specialized approach,” Kay posted.
Rescuers removed nearby tree limbs and conducted high-angle maneuvers that involved securing the man, transferring his weight and bringing him to safety.
Once he was safely back on the ground, paramedics determined he had minor injuries. He refused a ride to a local hospital.
“Great work by the following C-Shift crews: Heavy Rescue 23, Battalion 2, EMS 2 & 22!,” Kay posted.
