For many Key Biscayne foodies, this is the time of year when they try something new, with a peace of mind that the food selection has been perfectly curated for them and, more importantly, they can enjoy complete, three-course meals at a prix-fixe price that screams value.
We are, referring to Miami Spice, that summer dining event now in its 25th year. The two-month program was launched in 2002 by the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) to help restaurants recover and attract visitors during the traditionally slower months of August and September, in the wake of the post-9/11 economic downturn.
A modest number of restaurants participated at first. Today it has grown into one of the most anticipated Miami summer events, with hundreds of restaurants across Miami-Dade County and a crucial economic engine for the industry.
On Key Biscayne, four popular eateries have joined this year’s list of establishments offering three-course meals for lunch/brunch and dinner.
Through Sept. 30, Miami Spice Restaurant Months features $40 brunch and lunch menus and $50 or $65 dinner menus. On Key Biscayne, the four participating eateries are:
• La Boulangerie Boul’Mich Key Biscayne – offering $40 brunch and lunch options and both $50 and $65 dinner menus
• Luma, inside the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami – offering a $65 dinner menu
• Novecento Key Biscayne – offering a $40 lunch and $50 dinner menu
• Paralía, inside the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami – offering a $40 lunch and $65 dinner menus
We’ll take a look at what each of these Taste of Key Biscayne scene icons is offering.
La Boulangerie Boul’Mich Key Biscayne
The French bakery-café is offering all four Miami Spice tiers this year: $40 brunch, $40 lunch, and both $50 and $65 dinner menus, seven days a week.
Brunch includes a choice of egg-turkey-avocado toast or pancakes, followed by eggs benedict, ham-and-cheese scrambled eggs or a smoked salmon omelette, with a complimentary mimosa.
Lunch offers tuna tartare or onion soup, then seafood fettuccine or the bakery’s French dip sandwich, finished with tres leches or cheesecake.
The $50 dinner features escargot, Greek salad or clam chowder, followed by teriyaki salmon, lasagna or entrecôte frites. The $65 tier adds a second appetizer, plus wild mushroom ravioli and Nutella marquise for dessert.

Luma
Situated beachside by the pool in the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne with sweeping ocean views, Luma offers an Italian tradition of elegance and fine dining. The restaurant’s name is drawn from the Italian word for brightness, a fitting description for a dining room bathed in natural light and framed by the sea. For Miami Spice, Luma is offering its $65 dinner menu, available Monday through Thursday and Sundays.
The prix-fixe begins with a choice of two starters: crostone con ricotta, grilled Tuscan bread topped with whipped ricotta, pistachio butter, olive oil–poached tomato and lemon, or an insalata di finocchio, shaved fennel with baby arugula, orange, almonds, pickled red onion and a light condimento bianco.
For the main course, diners can choose agnolotti di mais, corn and Parmigiano Reggiano–filled pasta finished with cultured butter and black truffle, or an asparagus risotto with tomato confit, preserved lemon and ricotta salata. Those wanting a heartier meal, can upgrade to the filetto in crosta, a grilled filet mignon wrapped in a bone marrow crust with peppercorn sauce, for an additional $24.
Dessert rounds things out with a classic tiramisu, savoiardi, espresso and mascarpone dusted with cocoa, or a mango passion panna cotta paired with almond financier and tropical compote.
Luma is located inside the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami, at 455 Grand Bay Drive, Key Biscayne. For reservations, call (305) 365-4156.
Novecento Key Biscayne
A fixture on the island for more than 25 years, this local favorite blends Argentine hospitality with Mediterranean and Pan-Latin influences and French culinary technique to create a special dining experience with an island flavor. For Miami Spice, the restaurant is offering its $40 lunch menu Monday through Friday and its $50 dinner menu all seven days.
Lunch starts with a choice of empanada of the day, crispy octopus tostada with red onion, jalapeño, avocado and cilantro or grilled eggplant. Entrées include a pan-seared corvina with french fries, arugula and mushroom sauce; a chicken quesadilla with pico de gallo and guacamole; or barbecue baby back ribs with coleslaw. Dessert brings a choice of mango panna cotta with fresh berries or a caramelized dulce de leche pancake with vanilla ice cream.
For starters, the Miami Spice dinner menu starts with a smoked duck ham salad with mixed greens, blackberries and feta, an empanada of the day, or crispy tempura shrimp with spicy mayo. Mains include pan-seared tuna with jasmine rice, grilled octopus risotto or the picanha, grilled and served with crispy Provençal potatoes tossed in garlic, parsley and criolla sauce. Dessert options are a guava lava cake with cream cheese ice cream or a caramelized dulce de leche crepe.

Paralía
Steps away from the beach inside the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Paralía takes diners to the Greek isles with an Aegean beachside concept that blends Greek and Turkish coastal flavors with the bounty of Florida’s local fisheries and produce. For Miami Spice, Paralía is offering its $40 lunch and $65 dinner menus, both available Monday through Thursday and on Sundays.
Lunch opens with a choice of Greek village salad, tomato, cucumber, feta, olives and bell pepper, or Turkish hummus with crisp lavash. Entrées include chicken shawarma with lemon yogurt dressing, a beef gyro with spicy yogurt sauce, or a kebab duo of chicken and beef over Anatolian pilaf. Dessert offers galaktoboureko, a crisp filo pastry with vanilla pastry cream and roasted figs, or a crème chocolate with forest berries.
At dinner, starters include a salata Istanbul with fresh figs, glazed walnuts, Medjool dates and grilled goat cheese, or spanakopita with Aegean feta. Mains feature adana kebabi, minced beef and lamb with tzatziki and Anatolian pilaf; the kebab duo; or Izmir meatballs in tomato sauce with sumac and cumin.
