FORT PIERCE — The Humane Society of St. Lucie County (HSSLC) partnered with Sunrise Ford this past Saturday, July 25, for the Commitment to Kids community event, bringing adoptable pets and family fun together for a day of giving back.
Commitment to Kids was a free event that offered families an afternoon filled with hot dogs, hamburgers, Kona Ice, school supplies for the first 150 children, and the opportunity to meet adoptable dogs and cats from HSSLC.
The Fort Pierce Police and Fire Departments joined in the festivities alongside face painting, back to school haircuts, and an interactive art tent where children could paint a car, creating a memorable celebration before the start of the new school year.
Beyond the day’s festivities, Sunrise Ford made a meaningful investment in the lives of homeless animals.
Through a grant from Enterprise, Sunrise Ford presented the Humane Society of St. Lucie County with a
$2,500 donation designated for emergency medical care, along with more than $500 in in-kind donations
including pet food, toys, beds, and blankets. Contributions like these help ensure that HSSLC can continue
providing lifesaving medical treatment, daily care, and second chances to the thousands of cats and dogs
who enter the shelter each year.
As a nonprofit organization, the Humane Society of St. Lucie County relies on the generosity of community
partners, businesses, donors, and volunteers to fulfill its mission of finding loving homes for every
adoptable animal while providing compassionate care to those still waiting. Community events like Commitment to Kids not only strengthen local families but also shine a spotlight on shelter pets in need of homes and the importance of supporting animal welfare in our community.
Commitment to Kids was more than a day of family fun, it was a commitment to the children of our community, to the families who attended, and to the homeless cats and dogs whose lives are changed through partnerships like this one.
