JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A late-night argument outside a Westside home ended with a man being shot in the leg, and Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office detectives are now looking for the suspected shooter.
JSO Sgt. Sembach said officers were called around 9:32 p.m. to the 103rd Street near Old Middleburg Road for a report of a person shot. When officers arrived, they found a man in his late 40s with a gunshot wound to his upper left thigh.
The victim was taken by Jacksonville Fire and Rescue to a local hospital. His injuries were described as non-life-threatening, and he was listed in stable condition, JSO said.
Investigators said the shooting started with a verbal argument between a woman’s current boyfriend and her ex-husband. After a brief scuffle, JSO said the ex-husband walked to his vehicle, retrieved a firearm and shot the boyfriend.
Detectives believe the incident is isolated and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
The suspect is described as a man in his mid-40s, about 5-foot-11 to 6 feet tall, weighing 180 to 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black long-sleeved shirt and dark pants, according to JSO. Investigators said he left the area in an unknown-colored SUV in an unknown direction.
Crime Scene Detectives were processing the scene for evidence late Tuesday night, while robbery and violent crime detectives continued interviewing witnesses, canvassing for surveillance video and following up on leads.
