After a week of relief at the pump, Miami drivers are paying more for gasoline again, with the average price of regular rising 4.6 cents per gallon over the past week.
As the back-to-school week begins, the average price of regular gasoline in the Miami metropolitan area stands at $3.93 per gallon. Prices are now 4.2 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and 95 cents higher than a year ago.
GasBuddy price reports showed the cheapest station in Miami selling regular gasoline for $3.57 per gallon on Sunday, while the most expensive was $5.99. On Key Biscayne, both gas stations remained at $5.79 per gallon, keeping the Island among the most expensive places to fill up in the area.
Nationally, prices moved in the opposite direction. The average price of gasoline fell 10.7 cents per gallon over the last week to $3.94, just a penny above Miami’s average.
“Average gasoline prices declined in 47 states over the last week, with the national average price of gasoline posting a double-digit drop per gallon,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
